Question Question Access Denied 4 external USB Hard disk .

Access Denied 4 external USB Hard disk .
Hai Fellas .
I have an USB Harddisk with 40 GB capacity [3 partitions]. The problem is , when i double click the partitions of the external Hard drive in 'My Computer' it gave me a Access Denied error .
I initially checked out the drive permissions , its Ok , enabled for 'everyone' .
Then i tried out R.Click -> Open , It works !! . The thing opened when i opened it from context menu . But still its not opening in 'My Comp' window .

Any Solutions .

Hmm.. You can open it from the Context menu. So there is no issue with your HDD. I thing your Win XP installation has got some issues. Need some detailed investigation.

But the problem repeats itself in three computers , this USB disk is often used . And out of three , two of the computers shows a error dialog at startup stating "Error opening 'eksplorer' [- there is no X but K] . Is this a possible side effect of a Virii .
Thanks Guys , I tried those
@bakuryu : when i reboot PC with HD connected in USB slot , the Bios resets to boot from a removable disk , then HD or CDROM in Bios options .
@TheGamer ,: the problem still persists sir!!

All i want to know is , Is it due to some Virus . especially anybody knows about that eksplorer thing .

This again is a crucial problem...

I wuld again suggest to format things but that will make your things evapourate...

eksplorer in spanish, latin means explorer
That all i know...
If in any case its due the virus..then the maker of he virus must be sure of these origin...

Can you let me know wheter you can modify after opening from context menu
like copy/cut/paste etc

If so..i wuld advice you to copy the things to ur HDD then format this one...

And How about making a virus scan ..just right click on you Externall HDD and virus scan from a good AV ...

yes, I would try performing a full format also deleting the partitions and then re-creating them.

eksplorer
This is not reported as a virus so far. You better try for a full format.

itmight be due to some partiotion info table has gone corrupt and explorer is generating an error dueing the initial recognition of the partition table when you connect your hdd through usb .... do as everyone suggests .... a full format .. not a "quick" but full format erasing all your partitions .....
