USB drive problem

I have a p35 neo combo MSI mobo w/ 500w PSU. My problem is when i try to attach a flash drive or iPod to any of the usb port. Windows xp recognizes the device first and loads the drive as removable storage in my comp, however when i try to access the flash drive or iPod it opens to a blank screen. also when i open itunes to manage the ipod it tells me that the device is corrupted. i have tested the ipod and flash drive in other pc's and they work properly. ive looked for usb drivers for the mobo but all the msi disk and website give is PCI-E, Audio, and an intel inf driver. any help would be much appreciated. thanks

p.s. I do have a wireless keyboard and mouse using a usb port.

Since windows detects ur drive, i think there is no problem with it.

Can you try removing those, one at a time first and then removing both (if possible)?

Re: USB drive problem

Delete the INFCACHE.1 file from the Windows\Inf folder and then replug your removable drives. See if they work correctly.

Re: USB drive problem

Ya there isn't any problem with the fash drive i can use it properly on my laptop. the keyboard and mouse is a combo set and use one usb port to run. ill have to grab a ps/2 keyboard from a friend and try and see if that does anything.

Re: USB drive problem

nope no go on both suggestions. i unplugged the wireless keyboard and mouse and tried the flash drive but it gave me a device malfunctioned error (unknown device in device manager). sometimes it recognizes it but gives me the blank screen. i also tried deleting the infcache but that also did nothing. could it be a bios problem?

Re: USB drive problem

The only option i have in the bios is to disable usb altogether or just disable usb legacy support. There isn't a setting to drop the speed down at all.
