Doesnt want to load XP :(

well as most of u prolly dont know is that i got 2 computers...this and a 800MHZ one

im having a problem with the other oldie computer in the house (mostly used for psytrance making with trackers)

every time its supposed to load XP it wont. i dont know what motherboard it has rigth now, it had like a thousand, RAM i dont remember, yeah i dont even remember what HD it uses, cant check it either because i dont have enuf plugs rigth now

tho it uses a geforce 5500FX and a soundblaster 32 bit

ive tested networking card, grafix card, the soundblaster, RAM and the HD

its none of them...i fear it is the motherboard, the CPU or the IDE cables

when i try format it its totally black at the screen there too

its like this: Configuring Hardware screen and the totally black when its supposed to load all the files needed for the wipe

plz

Re: Doesnt want to load XP :(

it may be the IDE cables or the hard disk. How did you test the hard disk ?

Re: Doesnt want to load XP :(

it might be an issue with motherboard or ram. For how long did you run Memtest ? also you can chnage the IDE cables -- it helps sometimes on old systems.

Re: Doesnt want to load XP :(

try swappin out the power supply, usually one of the first things i check... even if its "powering up" it still might have dropped voltage on one of its rails or something along those lines... other than that based on all you've tested I'd have to go with the motherboard being faulty...

are you absolutely sure it isnt software related? are you getting post, did you try putting in a spare hd and installing a fresh copy of windows?
