One of the USB devices attatched to this computer has malfunctioned and windows doesn not recognize it.

This is the message displayed in the balloon. And it is soon followed by a zzzzzzzz sound or a fast forward of dialogues in case I'm watching a movie. It's a frustrating problem indeed.

And these two may be unrelated.

Then the webcam stops respodning.

You can try reinstalling the driver. First of all disconnect the webcam and uninstall the driver from Device manager. Reboot and connect the Webcam again and see if it's being recognised automatically. If not, install the driver from the Webcam's accompanying CD.

Once it's done, wait & see if the problems appear again.

Err.. I thought it's a USB webcam. Just uninstall the driver and reboot then.
