Re: Partition troubleshooting

I kindly recommend you Partition Magic. I use this program for several years now and did all kind of partition creation and resizing.
I never loosed any data when performing shrinking or enlarging of partitions, although it's very risky and you will be better of to make some backups before messing around with such things.
I assure you that this program won't disappoint you.
Best of luck.

What do you need the new partition for? Are you by any chance planning to install a new OS to have some kind of dual boot system?

If that is the case, what OS are you trying to install? I've used partition magic before and is a great product, but if you are planning to have a dual boot system just let the new OS installation to take care of everything.

Re: Can't partition the hdd - Interlinked files ?

Still the best way to partition the HDD is during the initial phase of installation of the OS and not after the OS has been installed.

But if you still want to partition your HDD without reinstalling the Operating System, you could try it this way.

If you're still getting an interleaved file message, try defragmenting the HDD first before attempting to partition.

Re: Can't partition the hdd - Interlinked files ?

Partition Magic has a built-in feature called BootMagic which will allow you to choose between multiple OS-es at startup.

You will also have more flexibility and can move the partitions order.

I don't recommend you to play around with partitions while have data on them, but what I'm trying to say is that if you have a need for doing such things this program will give you the possibilities.
