Stability issues on new homebuild system
Hi guys. I am building a new system with all new parts, and I have a doozy of a stability issue. I am currently bench testing the following parts:
EVGA 896-P3-1255-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz HITACHI 0A38016 1TB 7200 RPM ASUS P5QL/EPU LGA 775 Intel P43 Crucial Ballistix Tracer 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 Sony IDE DVD Rom Drive I just can't get the system to in a stable fashion. At first I got a blue screen the first time with one of the mobo drivers. I figured that it was a bad mobo, so I RMA'd out the mobo, RAM and PSU. Parts came back, system still will not run stable. Now it will frequently either hard lock, or just stop what it's doing (like a download or update). I even had it just stop when installing XP SP3. I had the video card running in another computer just fine for 3 hours playing some high end games. I also tried the known working PSU from that system with this hardware, still not stable. I put my personal gtx 260 into this board, also no dice. If I put in a old Geforce 6600, the system seems to be stable, but I am not sure what that tells me. All signs point to CPU, in my mind, but before I have another RMA issued, I wanted to get some other opinions. My other guess is that the PSU just can't power all this stuff, all the research I've done says it should run it fine. Any thoughts? I am at my wits end. Thanks! Re: Stability issues on new homebuild system
Hi. I put this card in a stable system, ran fine gaming for 3 hours. If I put my known working gtx260 in this new rig, it remains unstable.

Re: Stability issues on new homebuild system
It's most likely the issue of the video card with the mobo. In which slot are you connecting the video card, the PCI Express 2.0 slot or any of the PCI Express 1.0 slots?

Re: Stability issues on new homebuild system
PCI Express 2.0. This is the second motherboard that i've ordered. First was an Gigabyte, this one is an ASUS.

Re: Stability issues on new homebuild system
Try connecting it to the PCI Express 1.0 slot. Just a blind suggestion.

I'll give that a try.
