Odd problem with computer starting up after long shutdown

Hi all,

I have an really odd situation happening with my new system that really has me confused.

I recently built a new system and installed windows 7 on it. It appeared to work fine until the next day when i turned on the system. I was unable to make it to the login screen for windows. I had removed the cover on the case to take a peak inside to make sure nothing was lose and restarted it. It appeared to work fine again.

It wasnt until the next morning after shutting it down(power off) over night that the same problem occured. This has happened now everytime where my system has been off for approx 4+ hours. otherwise it works fine. My system runs absolutely flawless except for this error.

After thinking back to each time i had the problem, there seems to be a connection with removing the case cover and this issue. Each time i have done this it seems to recover fine. When i get home later i will try rebooting it with the case off to confirm my suspicions.

Regardless im at a loss. if anyone can help shed some light on this situation it would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking maybe there is a possible short somewhere that is in contact with my case. Only problem, It doesnt explain why this short doesnt occur when my computer is already running or when it has only off for a short period of time.

Try to plug the power cable in another outlet. You may have a grounding problem somewhere (either at the outlet or at your pc).
Also check if you have some cables inside your pc connected to the case cover.

hmm, so it happens only if you switch off your system for about 4+ hours, so it may not be a possible of short.

Anyway, have you tried to start your system without the case after 4+ hours, Give a try...

Leave your case off, go into the BIOS and then go to System Information where all the temperatures are and there should definitely be a setting to turn Reset Cover Case on and off. Turn it off if it is on, turn it on if it is off.

This is due to overheating, use 2 or 3 fans to avoid unwanted shutdown.
