HELP! Laptop's left touchpad button isn't working!
I just got my brand new Sony VAIO VGN-NW310F laptop yesterday.
Today while I was in the middle of doing something, my left touchpad button stopped clicking! I swear I didn't do anything; I didn't spill anything or press on it hard at all. Only the double-tapping and right button work. How do I fix it? Could it be a problem with just the button? Or did I somehow do something to the settings? Thanks |

Re: HELP! Laptop's left touchpad button isn't working!
Sometimes, just restarting the computer is enough to make the mouse become responsive again.
Try powering down the system, and removing the battery. For 30 Seconds. Press the power button, and let sit for another 30 seconds, then re-insert the battery, and try turning the system on.

securityexpert is right usually by just resetting the computer often times solved simple problems but if not try to access your laptops diagnostic cd thats sony vaio cd see if theres option for testing your laptop touchpad if this doesnt solve the touchpad problem i suggest you bring your one day old laptop to the computer store for evaluation of the problem and possibly you claim for warranty ![]()

Re: HELP! Laptop's left touchpad button isn't working!
There's also several other things you may wish to try.
Log in as normal, use TAB and ENTER instead of the mouse. You will need to log in and insert the drivers disc that come with your computer, and may need to re-install the drivers. I will provide additional information later, but at the moment, I haven't had sleep in 3 days, and I'm not competent enough to give you advice ![]()

I'll try to reinstall the drivers for now, if I can even find the disk! |

Re: HELP! Laptop's left touchpad button isn't working!
Came your laptop with Windows already installed or did you have to install it?
If it was installed have a look and see if there are some specific Sony applications on it. Maybe you also have a software that let you control your touchpad's behavior. You could somehow have pressed a key combination (without noticing) and deactivated the left mouse button. If there is such an application you could check upon this. |

Re: HELP! Laptop's left touchpad button isn't working!
1.Go to My computer-Right click-Go to Device manager-
2.In the list of devices-see for the Touchpad ,If It is enabled Uninstalled it,Then restart the computer 3.If problem persists try to reinstall the drivers for the touchpad provided by the dealer Or try the System Restore option(Programs-accessories-system tools-System Restore point- try this before the problem occured date) |

Re: HELP! Laptop's left touchpad button isn't working!
First, try the System Restore feature. Go back to the date where the TouchPad is still working. If that didn't work, reinstall TouchPad drivers.
