The audio driver files do not support your comuter hardware.
Note: If you uninstalled aduio software without restarting your PC, restart now, then run this setup again.

Re: Asus M2NPV-MX audio problem

Which version of of Windows XP you're using, 32-bit / 34 bit?

First of try to install Windows XP Service Pack 2 if not installed already. Then get the latest audio drivers from ASUS's website and try installing them. This should work.

Re: Asus M2NPV-MX audio problem

Errorcode:88780078
clearly indicates that the driver of the sound card are not proper

For confirmation run " dxdiag " and check the SOUND tab

it shld give an error regarding drivers

The best way is to have an update of the drivers from the ASUS site

To make things easier for you

Re: Asus M2NPV-MX audio problem

ASUS M2NPV-MX has Sound Max Chipset inbuilt

The latest driver available for this is V5.10.01.4151

Try to install this ^

BTW which XP you are using
32 BIT / 64 BIT ?

64 Bit version has different set of drivers which may not be included in the mother board CD

Re: Asus M2NPV-MX audio problem

Don't be surprised if installing drivers doesn't work I mean the onboard sound crapps out quite easily...in this case you'll need an external PCI sound card like Creative Sound Blaster live!
