64 bit vista system???
I'm looking to buy or build a 64 bit Vista system. I do photography
(photoshop) and I figure I need a new system and 3gb is just not enough so 64 bit Vista is it. my criteria: Core 2 Duo 8 or better yet 16gb support - Not particular about the type of memory should I be? 6+ SATA (some external would be nice) 6+ USB Firewire Gbit Network Good dual monitor supported video card - triple would be a bonus. At some point I may double up on the video card - (I'm not a gamer). Any Ideas??? Thanks Joe |

Just be aware that if you intend to run Vista, you have to buy Vista, and then send away for the 64-bit version (order it from Microsoft). I wasn't aware of that when I purchased Vista. From reading the box, it appeared that I was buying both 32 and 64-bit versions. When I went to install it on 64-bit hardware, I got a nasty surprise. Yes, it will install and run OK. But the 64-bit code is not there. So -your- build sequence might be a bit tricky. That is, you might have a problem trying to install with too much RAM, until you actually receive the 64-bit code. -Dave |

However only the ultimate version includes the 64bit media in the box. Others needing the 64bit media can either borrow it from a friend or order it from Microsoft. OEM versions of Vista can be purchased in either 32bit or 64bit media but the license is only good for that version. > > So -your- build sequence might be a bit tricky.
