Blank pages from explorer

Hi...like others I have a few problems since I bought Vista. One is that is
really annoying is the sudden appearance of a white blank page. I can only
move it by CTRL ALT DEL. then cancel the current task which is of course '
the windows explorer blank page'. How can I get rid of it permanently and
where did it come from?

RE: Blank pages from explorer

Hi Pete...

I am having the same problem and as of now have not found a solution...,The
only thing I have to offer is if you hit the windows key on your keyboard the
system tray will appear and you can right click and close the blank page....

If you come up with anything PLEASE let me know....

Thanks..
Carl

RE: Blank pages from explorer

I'm running VISTA Home Premium on an Intel Quad 4 machine.
Just thought I would add my 2 cents here. I see this problem as well. I
would just add that there is NO title bar associated with the 'Blank Screen'.
It's just a blank white page that takes over the desktop. You can't bring up
the task bar using the mouse as you can't see the pointer. Right Click does
not work either. The ONLY option (at least in my case) is to do what others
have done. CTL/ALT/DEL and bring up the TASK manager. Under APPLICATIONS it
just shows BLANK-PAGE Internet Explorer is running. Click END TASK and the
window goes away. I have run a complete scan with both McAfee and NOD32
anitvirus software and neither finds a problem.
If anyone finds out what is causing this and exactly what to do to
permanently correct, we would appreciate it.

What all have you tried? E.g. press F11

Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer?
Right-click Go To Process. What process name is highlighted:
explorer.exe or iexplore.exe ?

Reading between the lines (not what you have written) it sounds like
you have an instance of iexplore.exe open with About:Blank
in Fullscreen mode. To get out of Fullscreen mode and into a normal
window size you would press F11. If your Home page is About:Blank
that would explain the page you had open. Etc.

Re: Blank pages from explorer

Regarding the blank pages that pop up (even when not connected to the
internet), my trouble began when veoh updated their software and the plugin
in IE7. I disabled the plugin and have had no problems yet. Hope this helps
someone.
