IE 7 browsing problem

Hi, my OS is vista home premium. I find when I go to certain websites with IE
7.0, it is so slow that it just stay there and fail to open the link.
(e.g. http://www.keithley.com ) I also tried on xp with IE7.0, it worked
fairly well in that case.

Anyone get some ideas with this? Thanks!

I know of three causes for the vast majority of such problems:
1. Incompatible add-ons: What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop
and choose Start Without Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings. See this
article first:
How to use Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES):
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

3. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827315

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=27971
Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Re: IE 7 browsing problem

Thank you very much for the help.
I checked all possible causes, while none of them help.
Can you please check this site www.keithley.com , I suspect that the problem
might arise from the website itself, maybe it doesn't support vista or
something, although it belongs to a big famous company.

Re: IE 7 browsing problem

Hi,
That site http://www.keithley.com/ works OK for me with Vista. Did you (from
Frank's post) reset IE settings? That would have cleared the Temporary
Internet Files, a good first step for problems like this.

From IE> Tools> Phishing Filter, disable the Phishing Filter. See if that
helps.

Turn on the Windows Firewall from Control Panel> Windows Firewall and
disable any third-party firewall, security suite, phishing filter, site
advisor, etc. A third-party program may be causing this problem.

It's very slow and at the end it wanted to run something that I didn't
allow.

Re: IE 7 browsing problem

Hi, thank you very much, Frank and Don.
It's very strange that tonight the website can be opened, very slow though.
I really have no idea what happened in my laptop. Anyway, it works again.
