javascript enabled but not working

Hi,

It seems that my javascript is not working even though I have it enabled.

I was on bodoglife.com and it displayed an error message saying that I need
to be running javascript, but it appears that it was not enabled. I have had
other problems with sites which do have javascript on them, but did not know
what the problem was until this site complained that my javascript was not
enabled.

I looked at all my settings and the JS is enabled. What is even stranger is
that I tried going to the sites with firefox as well and it gave me the same
error. I also can't view other Javascript sites with firefox. Looking at the
options in FF it also says that Javascript is enabled.

So no browsers I have will run javascript correctly even though its enabled.
This is a laptop running windows XP with the most recent version of IE.
When I use my PC, which has the same security settings on the IE, I can view
the pages just fine.

Any ideas what is wrong with my javascript??

Thanks.

Re: javascript enabled but not working

Hi Ben,

It could be your firewall software or your hosts file (used to block ads) as
the site uses a number of external script files.

Here is the contents of the <noscript> tag in the page source

<noscript><a
href="http://ad.doubleclick.net/jump/bdg.uk.nreg.home/_default;sz=570x136;ord=123456789?"
target="_blank"><img
src="http://ad.doubleclick.net/ad/bdg.uk.nreg.home/_default;sz=570x136;ord=123456789?"
width="570" height="136" border="0" alt=""></a></noscript>

Select the View>Web Site Privacy menu to view the list of sites that are
linked from the homepage.

ad.doubleclick.net is a well known ad server.

It is obvious that the web designers for that site have not fully tested
their site. Your browser settings would appear correct, but they have not
tested the site thoroughly.

Check your firewall's productivity settings(Norton).

Regards.

1. You might want to refresh your scripting engine:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

2. Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools |
Internet Options and click Delete Files.

2a. Start | Run | Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

2b. Start | Run | Regsvr32 jscript.dll

3. Re-register all DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

4. See also

5a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser
extensions (uncheck & reboot).

5b. Find the hijacker that caused 5a to be checked (or if none were checked,
check for hijackware anyway):
