Multiple browsers rapidly opening up at once
I currently have Windows Vista Home Basic installed on my Dell computer. And
about once every three weeks, while I am online browsing the internet, all of a sudden internet explorer will start opening up new windows really quickly. Forty-two of them to be exact, and they open up so fast that I can hardly keep up with them. The browser windows don't actually load anything, but I'm finding it really annoying, and don't quite understand why it's happening. It doesn't happen at the same site each time, nor am I really doing anything consistent each time that brings it on. Any help would be greatly appriciated! |

Re: Multiple browsers rapidly opening up at once
Hi,
Is this happening when you click on a "Mail to" link? See: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/MailtoProtocol.htm Any hint as to what website or program is involved? If you hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete> Task Manager> Applications, is there any useful information? Re: Multiple browsers rapidly opening up at once
Vista Ultimate and IE7. Same very occasional problem. Seems to happen when I
click the Close Page red X. Multiples of the page I want to close (last time was Hotmail) load in rapid succession. I get about 30 before the breeding stops and then IE7 closes by itself after I've managed to kill the lot with Close Group. Escape will not work while the breeding goes on. Unsettling, isn't it! As far as I've checked my PC is clean and protected. Re: Multiple browsers rapidly opening up at once
Hi Jaycee,
A covenant of PA Bears post was If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop Although in your case it sounds like it is something less insidious. Do you have the IE7 popup blocker turned on? Then again I would not expect hotmail to spawn window breeding.... Guess...Check your computer Time settings or try deleting your Cookies in the Cache. Tools>Internet Options - General Tab, Temporary Internet Files, Delete button., Delete Cookies button. (Assuming you have XP/Sp2 or Vista) Oh, I see by your message header you are using Windows Mail.... Must be Vista. Is this a new computer or have you upgraded from XP? I suppose you have tried with Addons disabled also? There have been some changes made to hotmail and live sites lately. If you have not already changed from hotmail to live mail (as prompted on the hotmail site) I would suggest you do so. I find the Vista/Live Mail combination superb. Regards.
