IE7 default form method is now 'GET'.. why?
I am a web developer, and after the upgrade from IE6 to IE7, some ASP
pages stopped to work... The problem was that I had not set the "method" (Get/Post) in some forms, and Internet Explorer 7 use as default method the GET, that can give errors if the form data is too long; Internet Explorer 6 used POST as default method. I know that is always a good practise to set the form method, and it was my fault, but I was astonished of this choice.... Why change this default option from one version to another, and why change it in worse, with the possibility of errors? And IE7 is the only browser to use GET as default method, making harder the compatibility with other browsers. Ok now I've add method attribute to my forms, but I think it will be a very good idea to reset POST as default attribute, within some updates of IE7. |

Re: IE7 default form method is now 'GET'.. why?
Hi pisu,
My guess is that this came about because most search queries need to be 'get's (though other browsers accept post), but they account for less than 20% of browser usage. There seemed to be alot of confusion with the development of the IE7 Search Discovery standards. I think (, from memory, I am not on my regular machine) that request("parametername") will return the values from either a Post or a Get request, rather than using request.querystring("parametername") or request.form("parametername") Regards. <> wrote in message news:1180693031.923094.144080@q69g2000hsb.googlegr oups.com... >I am a web developer, and after the upgrade from IE6 to IE7, some ASP > pages stopped to work...
