IE7 will not load at all

Last night I went to connect to the internet and my browser would not come up
at all. The thermal bar would get about half way and then just sit there,
saying Waiting for reply.
I called my ISP support (I have Comcast Broadband) and walked through many
things to no avail. Here's what I've done:
Security settings: Medium
Cleared caches
Can ping website via URL in the command prompt
Even typing in a straight IP address wouldn't load a page
Comcast reassures me that my connection is working

I have Vista Home Premium. My ISP suggested reinstalling the browser. What
IE would that be? And how would I do that if I cannot connect???

Hi Sara,

I just posted a comment that might be relevant (IE7 and Vista: Internet
Explorer...). Do you by any chance have a router between your computer and
the modem? If you do, I suggest disabling firewall/web filters and let
Vista's built in security features, which people find annoying - I find UAC
annoying but tolerate it. See it that works for you.
