Internet explorer shuts down when I try to open a pdf file

When I try to open a pdf file, Internet Explorer sends an error report and
then shuts down. I have uninstalled and reinstalled adobe reader, checked
that the add on is enabled, checked the preferences all okay, tried to save
to target but will not work. Have checked association but still no go. Can
anyone help

Uninstall all versions of Adobe (Acrobat) Reader and then install Foxit:
Foxit: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php

Re: Internet explorer shuts down when I try to open a pdf file

Some ideas:

"pdf files sent to me by others via email" - this description is not
helpful because it doesn't say anything about where the pdf originated
or how it was built; in general, save the pdf to your hard drive first,
then open it.

"some online pdf's" - also not helpful because I can't use the
information to repro your issue; in general, contact the web site from
which you are trying to view the pdf

Check Adobe technical support.

Completely uninstall Adobe Reader, reboot, install the latest version
