Re: Cant Connect to Internet
There is no known compatibility issue between Vista and XP. What is your network structure?
Have you connected in adhoc mode or usual Access point and client connection (Wireless)?

Re: Cant Connect to Internet
I think the network connection is like
modem------Wireless Router through Ethernet cable From router to your computer via wireless ( WEP enabled) You are currently facing the following problem 1. You are unable to connect to your wireless network 2. You are unable to connect other unsecured wireless network also If what I write above is the issue it clearly the issue with your wireless client part (Computer) Please provide the following information. 1. Can you see all available wireless network on your computer 2. Are you facing the same issue on both desktop and laptop? 3. Which wireless utility you are using? |

Re: Cant Connect to Internet
1. Yes I can see all available wireless networks
2. Its just my laptop thats having the problem, the PC works fine on wireless 3. I am using an Atheros AR5006EXS Wireless Adapter (built in) it says its working properly plus my wireless switch is turned on |

Re: Cant Connect to Internet
Well Ive been on the phone with my internet service provider and Fujistu today for a couple of hours. The ISP got my ethernet to work but not my wireless. Fujistu told me that they could check my laptop and its components if I ship it for 560 something dollars plus tax and shipping. Thats outrageuos! I uninstalled the network adapter again and reinstalled it. Nothing worked. I also tried unistalling my ended subcription to Norton Security Center. That also didnt work. So I dont know what other options I have. Re-installing windows vista?

Re: Cant Connect to Internet
Open device manager in Vista, and see if there's any problem detected with your wireless devices.

Re: Cant Connect to Internet
The suggestions are:
1. If you wish to uninstall Norton from your computer always do it by running Norton Removal Tool. Manual uninstallation may left some remnants of the product on your computer. 2. Check whether is there any wireless devices working near you laptop. Eg: wireless phone, microwave oven etc 3. Have you installed any proxy softwares on your computer or any VPN softwares? As a work around try the following: 1. Switch off and ON the wireless button 2. Restart your laptop and try to connect to the network 3. If you are currently using wireless utility to view and connect to the network, change it to Windows Wireless Zero configuration. Last edited by Petrowhisky; 03-06-2009 at 10:41 AM.. |

Re: Cant Connect to Internet
To shift to Wireless Zero Configuration you need to turn off the current Wireless utility.
To turn off it Either right click on the utility icon on task bar or open the interface and turn off. Depends on the utilities.... To turn on Wireless Zero Configuration follow the steps below. 1. Go to Start 2. Type services.msc \3. On the services Window 3rd last is Wireless Zero Configuration Open it and start it. ( If it is already started click on stop and click on start again.... A troubleshooting step to restart the service) 4. If it ask you for permission to import anything from the wireless utility do not allow that. 5. A wireless symbol will be shown on task bar ...open it and click on view available wireless networks. |
