If your Wireless router is N and adapter is g..Then there is a compatibility issue. You should use the Wireless adapter which supports N for wireless N router.
OR May be the reason is you might be using both Windows wireless utility and adapter utility at the same time. To de-select Microsoft XP Wireless Network Configuration Utility follow the steps below. 1) Open your Network Connections folder (Start->Control Panel->Network Connections 2) Right-click on your Wireless Network Connection and select Properties 3) Click on the Wireless Networks tab 4) Uncheck the box that says "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings"

If your router supports Wireless N and the wireless adapter supports wireless g, then it is the issue of comapatibility problem. In case you can ask for RMA for the product if it is purchased less than one month.
