Problems with a router....
I bought a Belkin N wireless router and a Belkin N usb network adapter recently. The install and setup was very easy and everything was working great for several days. Last Friday I came home and the internet had dropped. My girlfriend and I went out of town for the next day and came home to the internet working again. However, I discovered that the internet was dropping periodically. Her computer is hosting the connection since she has the modem and my computer, in a different room, is using the usb card. I tried resetting the modem and the router, rebooting both computers and so forth. I messed with it for 2 days and decided to just disconnect the router for now and only use her computer. The internet seems to work better like it used to when her pc is the only one using the internet, yet sometimes we still get network timed out pages when surfing sites that we used to not get. It might be a problem on the internet providers side also. If anyone could help, I'll take any advice. This whole thing has gotten very frustrating since i spent $140 on the router and card. Thanks.

Re: Problems with a router....
Please provide us some more details.
1. What kind of Internet connection you have (DSL/Cable) 2. What is the IP address configured in modem (PPOE/Bridge mode) As a work around please type this command on command prompt of your Girl Friends computer. ipconfig and tell us the IP address and the default gateway showed there. [I hope her computer is directly connected to the modem]

Re: Problems with a router....
I dont think that info will help us out. My opinion is that you need to flash yout router with a new firmware due to incompatibillity with you wlan adapters.
Then again, it can be something completely different. Try to update drivers of your wlan cards. |
