college network problems
So I just moved into my dorm room and i was planning to hook up a network in my room, but i ran into a few problems...
1. I can access the internet through my labtop but when I run the internet through the router and then to my labtop it connects to the routers network but not into the colleges network. 2. The desktop that i put toghether that finaly works does not recognize the ethernet cable that i plug into it, and this same cable works perfectly fine on my labtop. 3. My labtop tries to connect to the wireless in the building, but windows tells me that i have the same IP adress as someone else so it does not let me use the internet. Please help, i am stuck with a bunch of jocks who can not help me! |

Re: college network problems
1. Is your router is configured to share the internet connection?
2. Are you sure the Ethernet card is working? Find out the model number of your card and try installing latest drivers. 3. Well, is this a public Wifi network? What IP is the connection taking? ( Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig ). |

Re: college network problems
1. I put in the intallation disc for the router in my labtop and I set it up you know with the key and stuff, thier was no way to turn off those capabilities. If thier is i have no idea how to get to them (side not i have a hawkins router)
2. I have an integrated network card, and i tired to uninstall the drivers that the computer had on it, but then latter when i went back to try and reinstall drivers it said that i had not unintalled them. 3. I have already tired ipconfig (it is one of the few comands that i actualy know) and it did nothing for me, just told me that i still had conflicting IP adresses. thanks for replying to my earlier post. |

Re: college network problems
Hey guys just ignore this thread ... I figured it out, i figured out that i have to reinstall the drivers for the router everytime that i unplug the network cabel from my pc. Thus i plan to not unplug it anymore, but not that the router works i also have a wireless going in my room.
