Can't Create Connection

I recently purchased a laptop and have been trying to connect it to the internet via cable modem. The modem is now installed, but there is no "connection" listed for it in the internet connection control panel, and I cannot create one. The Internet Connection Wizard claims that there should already be one present and shuts down--but regardless of what should be, it isn't there.

Is there some other way to create a connection? How?

Yeah, figured it was something like that.

I'll see if anyone has an alternative answer first. Only got so much money on hand.

Hi mabus101,

I actually have this problem before and Im not that tech savy that's why I called a support group to check the problem for me. In no time, I already have internet connection on my laptop. Try calling them at 1-866-437-6418 or you can check out their site at www.supportrix.com

Re: Can't Create Connection

So my guess is that you have cable comming in, and then that runs to the modem, then you have an ethernet cable comming out of the modem that is going either directly into your computer or into a router and then into your computer. A few simple things that you can try is to just make sure that all of your connections are good. This involves turing off everything and then pulling it all apart and then putting it back toghether.

You may also just have a bad ethernet cable or a just a bad coax cable, try finding ones that someone else has or just by more (having extra is always a good idea)

Finally try using another computer so then you can determine weather the problem lies with the computer its self or the actual connection

Re: Can't Create Connection

I know for certain that the problem isn't in the connection, squirtboy197, because I'm using that same cable modem right this moment.

It's possible that something is not connecting within the laptop, but it was able to identify the cable as being present--it just wouldn't use it to do anything.

Well then did you try loading new drivers onto the labtop? That was the problem that i had for a few days on the compter that I am on right now. Updating or just picking them from a different developer can make all the difference.
