some file sharing issue
hello...
my issue is that i want to share some files and folder (or may be a whole drive) between my pc and laptop. now here's the scenario i have a wimax external device (without built-in router) so cable from wimax device goes into a wifi router, and then a cable from wifi router goes into pc's lan card, and laptop enjoys internet thru wifi. so technically both systems are on the same network.... now i want some sort of connection to be established between the systems (without any further cables) so that i can send some files from pc to laptop or viceversa~! my pc has winXP P4 and laptop has vista business core 2 duo |

Re: some file sharing issue
First of all make sure that you can ping from desktop to laptop and vice versa..
If it is successful check file and printer sharing on both of your computers.

Re: some file sharing issue
Check file sharing. Is that enabled on both, laptop and PC? If you have no sharing enabled, they may not show up on the network and you cannot share.
Check to see if you are currently sharing any folders. If you have no active shares, again the computer may not show up on the network. Share a subfolder, not the entire drive. Make a folder to share "C:\Share" folder. Check to see if doing Start --> Run --> "\\NameOfComputerToConnectTo" or "\\IP.Of.Computer. eg)\\192.168.1.23. If you can ping it then can be sure, that it is connected successfully. Check to see if "simple file sharing" is enabled. Check the software firewalls on both computers. Check the firewall settings to be sure that file sharing is enabled. After these, you can open the shared folder and copy or paste files there.
