You will need a wireless router.
The router should provide a guide detailing how to set up a network on the device.

Hello,

Can I transfer files between computers and even do remote control with this method?

Thanks,
Douglas

Yes you can.
You can also share one printer and other peripherals as well, if they are networked too.

Re: How do I go about networking multiple wireless computers in my home...?

Hello,

Not to ask the same question again, but, Is the process for preparing this network to share computers hard drives as easy as seting up the internet itself?

Thank you,
Douglas

Re: How do I go about networking multiple wireless computers in my home...?

Not quite as easy as plugging in and you are connected, but not terribly difficult either.
Manual provided with router will provide instructions on how to set-up the network including sharing printer.

If the manual is not provided, it will be available online and there is also this site.

Just in case it isn't obvious, all the PCs will need wireless capabilities as well.
For instance, for my desktop I would have to buy a wireless NIC.
Wireless network interface card - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

e.g. Belkin Wireless Desktop PCI Network Adapter - PracticallyNetworked.com

Personally, I prefer to be wired.

Less to trouble shoot in case of problems.

That is old story RootbeaR!!! Now with Wireless N standard we can achieve the same speed of wired connection. Think about the convenience of using wireless instead of huge amount of confusing cables in your room.

Re: How do I go about networking multiple wireless computers in my home...?

It's very easy to set up a wireless network.

Just plug internet connection into wan port of wireless router, connect a PC with CD-ROM to router and launch install CD provided with router on PC.

You just answer the wizard's questions and your wireless network will be set up.

There is though one big gap in this: security will be veeeeeeery low.

Regards,
George

Don't worry about security, select WPA and set a strong keyphrase.
