Change the recommended videos in Youtube - cookies?
Everytime I log on to youtube, I have a recommended for you section that has a bunch of crap that doesn't interest me. I know there are hidden cookies somewhere in my system, but I can't find them to delete them. Deleting regular browsing cookies doesn't do the trick. They're in an index file somewhere. Can anyone help me with this?Advertisement |

Re: cookies
You can download CCleaner and it will clear up all the cookies and temp files left over on your computer after use.

Re: cookies
Thanks for your help. I do have ccleaner, but that doesn't seem to be doing the trick.

Re: cookies
Try to use different browsers like Chrome and Opera for double checking.
It could also be an account setting, so try logging into your youtube account from another PC. |

Re: cookies
Are you just deleting the browser cookies? Have you tried deleting all temporary internet files?
How about anything you downloaded/installed recently like a new toolbar? I'd say try deleting the temporary internet files manually, and then try horheg's advice if it doesn't work. |

Re: cookies
I have window washer, ccleaner and I even tried to delete them from tools, internet options, cookies, etc. etc.
I even tried to locate them from file location and I get to about the last search tab and find it doesn't exist. I just tried it again now I think I'll restart to see if they delete. Usually I find they just appear again. They won't delete. I'm even asked if I'm sure I want to delete these cookies. I say yes, they disappear ( then re-appear ) |

Re: cookies
If you are using Firefox, get the add-on "BetterPrivacy."
If you aren't using FF, get it and then the above add-on. It will delete all flash cookies, not just those used from FF.

I downloaded firefox and better privacy to no avail. Deleted LSO's, cookies still present. I'm still working with it though. Any suggestions?
( thanks ) |

Re: Change the recommended videos in Youtube - cookies?
The recommended videos in youtube are generated by Youtube's automated system. It depends a lot of your viewing habits and youtube's promotion interests. You can not change or disable it.
One way to get around this is change your viewing habits to another category. Also find a few videos that interest you and , add them to favorites & tag them. Slowly the system might pick up your change in interests. Another plausible way is to create a new account.

Advertisement Changing preferences was my original thought way back when. Creating a new account seems like a good idea also. Only thing is I know it probably won't modify/replace/change the cookies if their IN my system. And THAT aggravates me. Who are they to put things in my computer that are unremovable. What right do they have?
