Hi from Tom
I am a SQL-Server database developer by profession, but I am doing some community service for our local neighborhood association.
The project involves creating a Neighborhood Directory using MS-Publisher (I have version 2010). I chose Publisher because, besides the association's list of officers, bylaws, and general information, I have to provide a listing of the people in the neighborhood by name and then by street address.
MS-Publisher's "Catalog Merge" allowed me to create a database of the neighbors in MS-Access and import the listing into it's "merged catalog" pages. It also solved the problem of determining which page the data printed to (even or odd). Using MS-Access was a good choice and I have extensive experience using it.
In any case, it might not have been a good choice in hindsight to use Publisher, but up until I had to merge .PUB files into one document with consecutive page numbering, it seemed like a good choice. Now I am out of my league and hoping to get some suggestions of how to solve the problem of merging the files besides the labor-intensive manual way.
My first post to this website concerns this issue and gives more detail.
