Toshiba screen brightness

I have just purchased a second hand Toshiba Portege 3440CT for my daughter.
It has Windows XP Pro SP2. Trouble is that the screen is at 100% brightness
and I donot know how to adjust the brightness.

Any one know of a solution?

On the Portege M300 it's Fn+F6 to reduce, Fn+F7 to increase.
In addition I have an applet in Control Panel called 'Toshiba Power
Saver' where you can make permanent changes.

May be different between models of course!

On most toshiba's you hold down the function key (maybe func.) and then
press F7, that may increase the brightness so maybe F6 to lower, i don't
have a toshiba lappie to hand soz

On my laptop, the Fun F6 or Fun F7 does nothing. There is also no toshiba
power applet in my control panel.

I tried the tosh website but could not find any solution.

If you got it from a "dealer" the OS and drivers may not be the originals,
in my sad experience, and could be incompatible. Worth checking out.

Then you did not try very hard. Try downloading and installing all the
relevant drivers and utility software for your model. You will have to
use the Win2k stuff as this model predates WinXP. Of particular importance
are the value added logical device and the utilities.

I did go to the tiosh website and searched for all drivers/utilities under
XP but did not get any!

I did not realise that Win2K drivers would work on XP.

I will give it a go.
