FP-IN9 - overclocking advice?
Hi,
I've got an E6600 running on an FP-IN9 that I'd really like to try overclocking to 3GHz. I've tried upping the FSB to 333MHz while leaving the memory clock alone, and the system will boot into Windows, but freezes after playing games for a while. Any suggestions? The last thing I overclocked was an AMD K6! Thanks, JB |

Re: FP-IN9 - overclocking advice?
Hi, im pretty new to overclocking so i hope im not just repeating stuff you know, and i hope im right, im just going by my experimenting.
First you should check that your cpu/chipset isnt overheating, although an e6600 should be able to handle this overclock easily. Use programs such as speedfan and cpuz to monitor your cpu. To do a stress test use a program like OCCT (i think that what its called) to run a stress test. run 2 instances of it to load both cores, or use winrar to compress 2 large files (i use game dvd images) and watch the tempratures, this is a decent stability test. To find the maximum fsb the chipset will take, take your multiplier as low as possible and increase your fsb until the system becomes unstable. if this occurs at below the overclock you were trying then its your chipset thats giving up, if not then its your cpu. If its your cpu then you could try raising the core voltage, if you do raise it by VERY little increments, and dont raise it by more than 0.1v (i think this is just me being cautious, i'd look at other advice aswell). This will increase the cpu temp a lot though. good luck |
