BizTalk file read...

I have a requirement where inbound application creates a data file
(.dat) and a acknowledge file (.ack) in the inbound folder polled by
BizTalk and the imortance of .ack file is to let middleware know that
the .dat file is written and the file is ready to pickup. In a way
this makes sure that Biztalk does not pick incomplete files.

My question is, does BizTalk need to know that inbound file is still
being written and BizTalk should wait untill the whole file is
written?

Thanks,

I have never seen any issues using the FILE adapter unless it was used
to pick up a file that was being ftp'ed to the server.

So my best guess is; no, BizTalk does not need the file.

Re: BizTalk file read...

Thanks Jan,

That helps, my requirement spans across both FILE and FTP. So in case
where it is FTP do you see any issues with BizTalk reading incomplete
files as such? If yes, is ack file the best way to go or do you have
any other suggestions?
