RE: does anyone user Mobile Express?
I had the same experience and question. I asked it of the other CRM MVPs and
that was the experience of all. Pretty much limits the usefulness of CRM Mobile Express. "SA" wrote: > Folks, > > All I need to know if your mobile express allows you to schedule > 'Appointments' via the mobile pda ? So far I add the entity but its not > editable ...? > > Pls help > > > |

Re: does anyone user Mobile Express?
I haven't used the 'regular' CRM Mobile with 3.0 but I did use the 1.2
version and found it quite good. It pretty much let me do just about everything I could do on line, but on a smaller screen. I found that with the great integration with Outlook, I didn't have as much of a need for the CRM Mobile with 3.0 as I did with 1.2. Plus the installation of both are pretty tricky. I had to get PSS help to get 1.2 running, and it took them a while as it was. The disadvantage of CRM 3.0 Mobile, as I understand it, is that it doesn't support certain things. Not for sure what those are since I haven't played with it. I believe Cases was one and I use Cases a lot. Unfortunately the Mobile Express has very limited functionality and therefore has limited usefulness. But, it does give you access to CRM data from just about anywhere if you have a web enabled phone. I'm hoping they'll come out with a Mobile version for 4.0 though it's not being talked about yet. Thanks again Larry. you said you did'nt need the CRM mobile because of
integration with outlook..?? Does it mean you have found another way to use CRM via a PDA or you just don't go mobile at all ..? Re: does anyone user Mobile Express?
I am constantly mobile. my appointments in CRM flow to Outlook and then to my
PDA. As I work appointments, I write notes on what I do. These sync right up with Outlook via ActiveSync and then onto CRM. Re: does anyone user Mobile Express?
Hi all,
May I share some thoughts about CRM Mobile Express with you? I'm considering using it for my sales force, but I'm having the same problem: I need to edit oportunities and is not supported. My question is: Is not supported because CRM mobile express don't have the code to implement it or because can't be done ? My idea is to use CRM express as a reporting tool and updating info to CRM server. It can be done? Is factible? I need to use it with a Blackberry device, perhaps is a dead end? Thanks for you opinions, thoughts. "Larry Lentz [CRM MVP]" wrote: > I am constantly mobile. my appointments in CRM flow to Outlook and then to my > PDA. Re: does anyone user Mobile Express?
CRM Mobile Express is an open source tool. Out of the box there's some
default functionality and any functionality that's not there, you can build yourself or have it build. I don't know the details on CRM Mobile Express functionality, but the source code is available, so you can adjust it to your needs. Re: does anyone user Mobile Express?
Yes I have the source code.
But I don't see any hints how to add new entity pages for editable entities. In fact perhaps I need to go more deeper but I only have seen this function referencing about readonly entities...but I don't know if there is a limitation of the existing source code or that It can't be done. Anyone has do it to show me the way? This is the function referencing the subject: /// <summary> /// Some entities do not support editting and this will determine wether to render edit link for the current entity /// </summary> /// <param name="entityName">Schema name of the entity being checked</param> /// <returns>If the entity doesn't support editting</returns> public static bool IsEntityReadOnly(string entityName) { // If the current entity is one the following, we must disable the edit link if (entityName == EntityName.annotation.ToString() || //entityName == EntityName.appointment.ToString() || entityName == EntityName.email.ToString() || entityName == EntityName.invoice.ToString() || entityName == EntityName.invoicedetail.ToString() || entityName == EntityName.salesorder.ToString() || entityName == EntityName.salesorderdetail.ToString() || // entityName == EntityName.quote.ToString() || //entityName == EntityName.quotedetail.ToString() || entityName == EntityName.systemuser.ToString()) { return true; } // Retrieve entity node XmlNode entityNode = MobileUtility.GetEntityNode(entityName); if(entityNode != null) { if(entityNode.Attributes["readOnly"].Value.Equals("1")) { return true; } } return false; } ------- This function can be found on App_code/MobileUtility.cs under de MobileAplication branch. Is these summary notes that I fear that I'm trying to do something impossible. |
