Re: CRM 4 Installation Error - A referral was returned from the server
Hi - I have a resolution to this issue, in case anyone comes across it in
the future. Basically, DNS in this customer's domain was well-and-truely messed up. I contacted CRM Support initially, and they had me run a few diagnostics, and then quickly created a sub-case with the Network Engineering Team. The Network Engineer spent about 2.5 hours remotely troubleshooting and then, ultimiately, completely rebuilding DNS. Don't try this at home kids, but here are the Engineer's notes on what he did (it was all just 'magic' to me): 1. Changed all DNS zones to Standard Primary 2. Removed ForestDnsZones and DomainDNSZones partitions using NTDS utility tool 3. Restarted the DNS server and Netlogon services to rebuild them 4. Changed the '_msdcs.customerdomainname.local' and 'customerdomainname.local' zones to Active Directory Integrated and replicated _msdcs.customerdomainname.local forest wide 5. All other zones are left as Standard Primary zones After he did this, CRM installed first-time. So for the $125, it was well worth having a pro take care of this issue. Not really CRM-related at all, but if you've been working with CRM for any length off time, you know that it's excellent at finding any and every little flaw in your network :-) Hope this helps someone. Re: CRM 4 Installation Error - A referral was returned from the server
Any news on this problem? We were getting exactly the same error while trying to access the application. We weren't able to log in until we did the flushdns part, then and after a couple of hours we were able to use the application normally.
Microsoft Premier Support has not yet been able to find the cause and definitive solution. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Rafael. |
