Insufficient Permission - Report Wizard CRM4.0
Does any one know the minimal set of permissions required to run report
wizard? - i seem to get the error message 'Insufficient Permissions' when anyone but a system administrator tries to run the Report Wizard. I dont use all entities, for example invoice, orders, quote, at all in the system, but do these still need to be set to read? - i dont want to do this because i want to hide these entities from end user views. Although i dont use all entities, for those that i do, i have set them to read at user level - but still no joy! -- CRM Consultant |

RE: Insufficient Permission - Report Wizard CRM4.0
Did you, by any chance upgrade from 3.0 to 4.0? I ask, because we had the
same issue, and here is how we solved it. 1. The basic security role required to use the report wizard is at least user level create permission on reports. 2. We had a group that would get "insufficient permission" every time that they tried to run it, even though they had the right boxes checked in their security role (they all had the same role) 3. I worked with Microsoft support on it, and they could not find anything wrong with the role settings. 4. The solution was to recreate the role in 4.0, copying one of the system roles and editing it. Turns out there is some additional "behind the scenes" stuff going on with roles, and since the role was created in 3.0, it didn't give them access to some of the new functionality in 4.0. After recreating the role in 4.0, it works fine for them. Lesson learned: Always create security roles by copying one of the system roles (on the role record, hit actions, copy record).
