CRM4.0 client install problem
I'm trying to install the CRM client on one of our computers. I ran the
install and am now executing the 'Configuration Wizard'. I select connect to CRM at my company. As intranet (same as external) address I enter the URL on which I reach CRM through IE: http://<myserver>:5555. On the next screen (Organization I get nothing to select...Can anyone help? |

Ensure the user you are logged in as is set up in the CRM as a user, and has a security role. if the organization box is empty, that means the user belongs to no organizations. Re: CRM4.0 client install problem
The user under which I'm running the client setup exists in CRM and has a
role. It is the same user under which I can log onto CRM through IE. I also tried to run the client setup under the admin logon: same result, no organisations listed... Any other ideas? Re: CRM4.0 client install problem
Stephen;
do you have other users in the office for which you were able to configure the client? did this machine have version 3.0 on it previously (is this an upgrade or a fresh install)? Re: CRM4.0 client install problem
This is the very first install (-attempt) of the client for any user. I had
also tried this on another machine and it behaved the same way. And nope, it's not an upgrade from 3.0. Re: CRM4.0 client install problem
it has to be an issue with the URL then I think. when you open IE and hit
http://<myserver>:5555 : does it redirect you to another url (what is the full path ~ it should be something lile http://<myserver>:5555/MyOrgName/loader.aspx )? what internet security zone are you in (in the status bar at the bottom of IE)? I think you mentioned that you are not challenged for credentials when you connect with IE - is that true? Re: CRM4.0 client install problem
Yes, the full path the IE directs me to is:
http://<myserver>:5555/<MyOrgName>/loader.aspx The zone I'm in in the IE when I use CRM is 'Internet'. The IE does challenge me for a username and password as I connect to CRM. However, it does not ask me for a pw when I run the cient config wizard. Re: CRM4.0 client install problem
ok, I think that's the answer then - if your CRM implementation is not an
IFD implementation, then you should not be challenged for credentials when you connect to crm. To correct this, add the CRM url to your local intranet zone's sites. Also ensure that the User Authentication settings (found inside the security settings for the zone) for the local intranet zone are set to 'Automatic logon with current user name and password' or 'Automatic logon only in Intranet zone'. once you can get into CRM without being challenged for credentials, i think the OL configuration will clue in. Re: CRM4.0 client install problem
Dave, appreaciate your help!
Dunno what IFD stands for. I did make the settings in my IE as you suggested. I can now get into CRM through the IE without having to enter credentials each time, which is nice. However, the client install wizard is still not showing any organizations to select... I'm reaching for the White Flag, Stephen. You have stumped me on this one;
granted that's not such an accomplishment. if nobody else on the board can help, then it might be time for a MSFT support ticket.
