Re: Pen tool for gradient fills (to Fred mostly)

This is a draft to draft, if this term is correct. D'you read help>>about?
The only option is drawing curves as usual- with pressed left mouse
button. All could be cleared by pressing "Cut" button, and you may
restart. Sorry about name, but when I started this project, I named it
KnifeTool, but later I realized, that Scissors is more likely to what this
prog actually does.
(I'm not sure, that my personal answer goes to you- something is wrong in
settings of my browser)
Regards, Andrew

Re: Pen tool for gradient fills (to Fred mostly)

Hi Andrew,

I now understand to just start drawing. I was trying to open a 'new' file.
It's like cutting or scoring paper; very nice effect.
I'll keep trying to see what I can make. Thanks for the help.

Regards,
Fred

As you may see, it is a kernel of some perpective technology. I think,
later I'll make something more useful (course, intensity of a line should
be set by a user, drawn curves should be vector objects, erase tool is a
must and so on). Here is at least one more problem. How one may set a
color? Grayscale output is the simpliest variant, because one parameter
along a curve could be set by a pressure of a pen to tablet or by a mouse
wheel. If you have some ideas,I'm open for them. And, BTW, what should be
done with saturation effect? You may draw a spirale and finally get a
completely white or black object. I've made some experiments with
different color profiles, but finally grayscale was prettier than another
variants. Probably, a raster could be a start point. One may convert it to
such kind of object and edit it later.
Regards,
Andrew

i made a half decent abstract, but can't show it to you, the save
function doesn't.

It isn't implemented now, but you may press CTRL+PrntScr or Alt+PrntScr
and save result, using Paint or something else. I really was in hurry
because I wanted to show announced method. When it is ready, this prog
will be at least 300-500 Kb. What is the most interesting for me- how to
adapt it for tablet. It will be the best way to draw (and paint
simultaneously) using my method. As one may see, looking at attached
grayscale images, this methods lets one to make really nice-looking art.
Have you some ideas, what and how should be implemented here, let me know.
Regards,
A

wrinklie
when you make something you can make a printscreen of it and paste it on a
worddocument
always nice to see your work

Me is no better painter too. But, add gradients elsewhere is in fact pure
barbarism. This prog is intended to create gradients, and that fact, that
it can simultaneously create regions, colored with constant color, is only
a coincidence. Grayscale images at my site are intended to show, what sort
of graphic could be created with my tool. I do have a tablet in a
handreach, and within few next day probably will make some experiments
with it. May be, some small show will be useful. There is a way to make a
show from one of vector images, as if someone makes it by a mouse.
