OT: How is GoDaddy as a Host ??
We manage several websites and are considering moving to Godaddy. I've read
that they may have some issues with some FrontPage extensions. So we are considering upgrading to Expression (gotta do it sooner or later ![]() Please share with me any experience's you've had using GoDaddy as a host. I understand they may be a little weak on support... but we may put up with that for the overall cost saving... but we are concernec with bandwidth and download speed as one of our sites is going to be a high traffic site... and we can't risk users giving up because a web page downloads to slowly. thanks for any comments. |

Re: How is GoDaddy as a Host ??
A customer recomended GoDaddy. Initially I spoke with a customer service
person and was told that they would assist me with what ever problems I had. After purchasing their services, I found out the exact oppisite! Any problem you have will be blamed upon your software, hardware, Internet connection. For example, I use Outlook 2003 to connect to 5 different e-mail providers. After working for several months, I could not connect to GoDaddy's POP3 server. So, I called GoDaddy, they told me that it was a problem with Outlook and to call Microsoft. Calling Microsoft would have required that I paid Microsoft money. About two hours latter everything started working. I guess Outlook healed itself. I truly suspect that there was a problem with GoDaddy's server and they would not admint it. With the release of Visual Studio 2008, I called to ask if they supported the new features. I e-mailed or spoke with three different support people and received three different answers (No they do not support the new features, they will quickly add the new features, visual studio 2008 does not have any new features that require ISP support). GoDaddy is the cheapist for what you get, but I would suggest that you look into other choices. --Jesse "Will" <Will@somewhere.com> wrote in message news:48078ee9$0$12893$4c368faf@roadrunner.com... > We manage several websites and are considering moving to Godaddy. Re: How is GoDaddy as a Host ??
I find that godaddy bites (that's the professional term).
I also found that www.crystaltech.com is pretty darn good. great control panel. I recently signed up for an account with www.1and1.com just to see if they were as bad as godaddy but I haven't pounded on it hard enough to give you an opinion. While GoDaddy's hosting is bunk, their domain services are pretty good. I have a domain reseller account and I think I've had it for more than 5 years with no problems at all. it's a great control panel that they build in house on the asp.net platform.
