Find files by searching photo exif data?
I have been using EM happily for a year now, storing all my DNG files (up to 20,000 files / 400 mb). I wanted to check on performance of a questionable lens so thought I would find all files taken 1. on my D50 2. with my 80-400 lens 3. at varying apertures. When I pulled up the 'Find' box I was surprised that I could only get as far as selecting by camera. Among all the other options there was no mention of the Exif lens info (unless I'm missing something really obvious). I spent 20 minutes searching these forums, sure that someone else must have come up against this wall, no luck so far. If anyone has any insight I'd much appreciate hearing from you. Regards Robin |

RE: Find files by searching photo exif data?
Robin,
Unfortunately we have limited functionality related to sorting by EXIF data. The source device is available, but we do not have available sort options for the lens or aperture. This is a feature that has been suggested to our developers and is under review for future versions of Expression Media. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Re: Find files by searching photo exif data?
Hello
I have created 5 customs filed (ISO-Aperture-Focal Length-Shutter speed-Lens) where I write (manually) the data. Someone know if exist a script for this (read for exif and write)? Thanks RH "Robin" <robinhood1970@yaho.it> ha scritto nel messaggio news:eFtW4vBtIHA.4876@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >I have been using EM happily for a year now, storing all my DNG files (up >to 20,000 files / 400 mb). > I wanted to check on performance of a questionable lens so thought I would > find all files taken > 1. on my D50 > 2. with my 80-400 lens > 3. at varying apertures. > > When I pulled up the 'Find' box I was surprised that I could only get as > far as selecting by camera. Re: Find files by searching photo exif data?
Hi Robin, Alternatively, you can use the script called "Description from EXIF fields.vbs" (Scripts menu > Annotate) which will write all the EXIF data into Caption. The data in Caption field is searchable. You can modify the script to write only the required EXIF fields into Caption (comment unwanted fields in the code). Also, this script can be modified to write EXIF data to your custom fields instead. RE: Find files by searching photo exif data?
Hi Robin, I apologize for the delay. I've modified the script so that it can write the EXIF information into your custom fields. You can download the script from here: http://cid-2911b33408e8f6f9.skydrive...se.aspx/Public Please follow the steps given below to configure and use the script: 1) Download the script and change file extension from .txt to .vbs. 2) Place the "EXIFToCustomFields.vbs" file into "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Expression Media 2\Plug-ins\Scripts" folder. 3) Launch Expression Media and create following custom fields (Fields names should be exactly same as given below): Model ISO Aperture Focal Length Shutter Speed Lens 4) Open the catalog, select images, and click Scripts > EXIFToCustomFields. The script will write the EXIF data to respective custom fields. Warning: This script is not tested completely. Please test this script before trying this on your production workflow. Also, take back-up of your pictures before running the script. Feel Free to modify the code as necessary.
