Master/Detail question
I am new to EW (a FP refugee) and have worked my way completely through Jim
Cheshire's book "Using Microsoft Expression Web". So far - so good. I have a decent overview of the software and a few details in just a few weeks of part time study. I'd recommend his book and online tutorials to anyone new to EW. The problem is it ends with Chapter 35 and I need a few more chapters. I have a large amount of data to present. (http://www.jcharper.net/investment/yoyoest.aspx) Of course, it is too much for one page. I would like to let the viewer select by industry classification and present only the records in that industry. In the small online database there are 2 tables, one with all the data and another with just the industry classifications. I tried to adapt Cheshire's Master/Detail instructions to my needs and failed. (When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail) What I would like is a list of industries in the right column and tabular output by selected industry in the center column. As a temporary fix, I just delivered everything in the center column. Can I do what I want with the ASP.NET controls in EW? If not, how do I go about it? If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Cordially, jch www.jcharper.net |
