Do Service Pack updates for Office 2003 overwrite the dictionary f

Do Service Pack updates overwrite the dictionary file? Have an end-user who
was having a problem interfacing with another application suddenly. I
checked the SP of the Office Suite 2003 and found that it was 1. Updated to
SP3. While preparing the test document for the interface problem, the
enduser noteices that the medical words that normally were checked
successfully after they were first added were now being "questioned" by Word
2003. Hence the question

I am having the same issue luckily I only updated one user and am looking for a resolution before I update the other users. Any known resolution would be much appreciated
