How can I record a voice comment in word 2007?

When I select the insert voice command from the ribbon, I am prompted to
"create package" from a file.

Hi Bressler,

Are you referring to having added the 'Voice Comment' command to the quick access toolbar in Word 2007 (it's not a command included
in the ribbon by default)?
(Office files button=>Word Options=>Customize=>Commands not in ribbon=>
Voice Comment )

If the Windows Sound Recorder is available in Windows XP or in Windows Vista you should be getting the 'Sound Object' as a popup.

I can access the Sound Recorder via the Start menu, so yes, it's available.

I have added the "insert voice" command to the QAT. However, when I
highlight text to insert the sound, I am prompted to create a package from a
file. No sound recorder. Very frustrating.

I'm using Office 2007 and Windows Vista.

Thanks,

Re: How can I record a voice comment in word 2007?

Hi Bressler,

The voice comment recorder works with a microphone, a .WAV file in Windows XP or a .WMV file in Windows Vista, it can't convert text
to a recording.

If you don't have text selected and use the Voice comment choice do you get the same result.

If you use Insert=>Object=>Object is there a 'sound' choice in the list and does it bring up the sound recorder?

Same result if no text selected. Word automatically selects the text
immediately prior to the insertion point.

There isn't a sound option available when I choose Insert=>Object. There are
two package options. This may be the issue, but I have no idea how to resolve.

Thanks,

Re: How can I record a voice comment in word 2007?

Has this issue been resolved for anyone?

After I add Insert Voice to the Quick Access Toolbar and select it, rather
than a recording window popping up, I get a Create Package search box.
Clearly, the icon link is crossed up the correct prompt, right?

I have tried repairing the program, which has only been installed since
Monday of this week.

Does the voice comment feature work in Vista?

I am running Enterprise 2007 Word/Office with SP1 on a currently updated
Vista Home Premium Compaq.
