Is there any way to read an *.MDI document without Office 2003?

Have your sender convert the document to a .tif.

I am sending. The people I send to doesn't know how to convert to tif. Is
there a reader down load available? No there are no MDI readers as such unless one has Office 2003
installed. However, there is one another way to send documents which can be read by anybody on XP systems. That other way is to create a ..XPS file format and this is done by the sender who has .NET framework installed on their systems. You can download it here: also read about it here: The file created as .XPS is read in IE browser. Effectively you print the document to a XPS printer that is installed on your system when you install the .net framework package. this is very much similar to a PDF format except that MS decided to have its own system in place should ADOBE stops it from using its engine.
