RE: Office 2007 Enterprise updates fail to install

Please manually download one of the problem patches to your machine. Lets try
KB936514 for example.

Extract the contents of KB936514 out of the exe using winzip.
You will have many text files and a file named xlconv.msp.

For ease of this conversation place xlconv.msp in the root of c:\

Then open a command prompt window and use this command..

msiexec /p c:\xlconv.msp /l*v c:\Update.txt /qn

After it fails you will have a log file in the root of c:\ named update.txt.

Please paste the contents on the forum so we can tell you why it failed.

RE: Office 2007 Enterprise updates fail to install

Ultimately, by reinstalling several times, I got to the point where all
updates except the one for Word (KB934173) would install.

Below is the text from update.txt, created per your instructions. Much of it
is Greek to me but it appears to be complaining about the product code at one
point. I did have a downloaded, time-limited version of Office Enterprise on
the machine, which I replaced after its expiration date with a copy obtained
through my company's participation in the Home Use Program (including, of
course, a legit product code). However, I had a devil of a time getting it to
install, which I attribute to chunks of the time-limited version still
floating around. But what do I know?

In any case, here's "update.txt," and thanks for your help.

RE: Office 2007 Enterprise updates fail to install

Hi Wm,

Please try this..

Backup/export and then rename the following reg keys if they exist

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Patches\52198A6C37453E 544B31DE1868344757
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Patc hes\52198A6C37453E544B31DE1868344757

I don't expect you to have the next following reg keys but if you do, also
Backup/export and then rename them if they exist

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Patches\52198A6C37453E544B31DE1868344757
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\00002109030000000000000000F01FEC\Patch es\52198A6C37453E544B31DE1868344757
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\0000210903000 0000000000000F01FEC\Patches\52198A6C37453E544B31DE 1868344757

Then try to reinstall KB934173.

Please let me know if this works for you.

Thanks
