544 authentication failure

I went through the authentication process with an online helper from my email
server. The settings are correct, supposedly. The same information works
perfectly on my old XP - of course.

Can you give me (us) further suggestions as to possible authenication
problems? Is it in Outlook or in my computer credentialing (sign on)?
Thanks.

What is the EXACT text of the error? What version of Outlook?

Re: 544 authentication failure

"554 authentication failed. Must log in." I realize I typed the wrong
number in my original. Actually, after I posted my question, I went to my
email help and ran another test. It seems the Windows Live OneCare was
interfering. It worked for a couple of emails, but is now giving me the same
system administrator message again saying it is undeliverable.

I did not do a thing! What do I need to do to stop this?

Oh, it is Outlook 2007 on an HP Pavillion laptop.

Thanks for your time.

Your ISP should be able to tell you what setings you need to specify in your
account configuration.
