Outlook 2007 Inbox Doesn't Refresh

When I receive incoming mail, the number of unread emails in my Inbox
increments, but the emails don't show up in the Inbox unless I
navigate to some other folder and then back. Is there a fix for this?

Exchange mailbox? How are you connecting to it? Do you have firewall
software running on your workstation? If so what if you temporarily disable
it (or, better yet, configure it to allow Outlook through) as a test?

Re: Outlook 2007 Inbox Doesn't Refresh

I can't speak for the original poster, but I'm experiencing the same issue on
a Windows XP Professional SP2 machine, fully updated, connecting to an IMAP
account. Windows Firewall is enabled, and I doubt there's a specific
exception for outlook.exe in there, but it doesn't seem as though that would
be relevant, given the fact that email can be sent/received with no problems,
only the automatic refresh of the inbox display is failing. I will try adding
an exception for outlook.exe however, and I'll let you know if it helps.

Turning off PC-cillin (Trend Micro Internet Security) fixed the
problem. Uninstalling Business Contact Manager did not help, as it did
with some others. Unfortuantely, there is no way to keep virus
checking on and fix the problem. I am contacting them with the
problem.

Thanks,

Mike

RE: Outlook 2007 Inbox Doesn't Refresh

Hi,
Had same problem. Outlook 2007 Dutch. No refresh of inbox.
Problem caused bay Norton Internet Security: firewall

Solution: deleted prgm from firewall list and started outlook again.
Norton-fw asked what to do with outlook: allow all (not auto).

Problem solved.
Succes

RE: Outlook 2007 Inbox Doesn't Refresh

I have the same problem too. Windows XP sp2 Office 2007. Email send/receive
works fine to a POP3 server. I have the Windows firewall turned on but get
the same issue if it is off. Others in my office dont have this issue so I
dont believe it is our hardware firewall. My virus protection is Symantic
Clienty Security (managed virus server). Any other ideas on this?

RE: Outlook 2007 Inbox Doesn't Refresh

I don't use Windows firewall, but Norton. When I reset Norton firewall as
explained, problem is solved (or if I switch firewall off). It stays ok for a
while, then problem occurs again. Resetting Norton firewall solves problem
again. Asked help from Norton. Gave some solutions. None helped. Adding rule
for Outlook 2007 in Norton I.S.2008 does not help.
You could have other cause. Probably with installed google-search bar. See
other threads.

RE: Outlook 2007 Inbox Doesn't Refresh

I just removed the Google Toolbar (it was listed several times). I also had
an Add-in from SalesForce.com that I use. I uninstalled that. I am now
add-in free. I will monitor and see if that helps. Thanks for your posts.

Another reason I'd never use a Symantec product, especially where there are
so many BETTER freeware solutions.

Re: Outlook 2007 Inbox Doesn't Refresh

I restarted Outlook but it still does not refresh. I have no extra toolbars
or add-ins so I am on the prowl for another option.

On the Symantec point... I agree. Office policy I didnt make.
