Outlook 2000 has crashed and all emails disappeared

My Outlook 2000 has crashed and I have had to reset a new personal folder but
all my emails have disappeared from my folders. I created a new personal
folder but when I try to import the old message from the outlook.pst, it
comes up with the following message:
Properties for this information service must be defined prior to use.
When I click on the OK button, a message appears:
Errors have been detected in the file C:\Documents and Settings\user\local
settings\
application data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst Quit all mail enabled
applications, and then use the Inbox Repair Tool.
I would appreciate it if someone could let me know how to re-access those
old emails again?

Re: Outlook 2000 has crashed and all emails disappeared

Search for and run scanpst.exe on your old data file, run it several times
if it fixes err's until it gives a clean pass.
(With OL Closed)
If that proceedes OK, within OL, File>Open>Personal Folders..........browse
to the old data file
