RE: Files opening in read-only
Hi
well we have similar issue - sharepoint v3 with office 2003 sp3 on same machine (dev server), user is local system admin and also sharepoint admin. All word documents, even when we checkout and then choose edit in microsoft word, they open as read-only. Funny thing, when open from another machine, but which has office 2007, with same above user id, open in edit mode - what's happening? Have tried everthing from uninstalling and reinstalling office 2003 and sp3. Tried registering OWSSUPP.DLL unregistering etc, with error. - satish "Jonathan Steinberg" wrote: > Hozannas! Re: Files opening in read-only
'Just want to thank Jonathan Steinberg for providing an effective solution to this maddening behavior. After many months without problem, suddenly on my main computer all sharepoint docs started opening only in read-only mode. Two hours of Googling and reading, and nothing but including ten million repetitions of a common, ineffectual answer, 'til I stumbled onto your post. I'm not a programmer, and I would *never* have thought of MDAC. Simple MDAC reinstall solved the problem instantly. Hozzana, indeed--to you, sir. Paul Levine, Boulder CO
