NOKIA 6708 launched.

Nokia has announced the Nokia 6708, a compact business device featuring innovative touch-screen pen input with English language handwriting recognition.

This smartphone offers superior voice features, big screen, and large memory to support office and multimedia applications including Personal Information Management and Internet browsing.

The pen-based touch-screen user interface allows users to write in simplified English text, and conveniently access the phone's features. The pen input uses a full display screen to write in continuous strokes, and has a virtual keyboard to touch type messages and data. The touch screen of this phone is 2.66 inches wide.

The phone has been designed to give best possible access to key features and add-on applications. It supports POP3/IMAP4/SMTP email protocols with attachments.

Other key features of the Nokia 6708 include built-in memory of 18 MB SD RAM and 30MB flash, 1.3 Mega pixel camera, built-in Multimedia player (MP3, WAV, MIDI, AAC, AMR), high-speed Internet XHTML/HTML browsing, and PIM features.

Additionally, it also has Symbian and Java applications, Quick Office Applications, Hot Swap memory card support of up to 2GB, and improved security (SMS remote lock to auto lock phone when lost).

Speaking at the launch, Chakrapani GK, country general manager, Nokia Enterprise Solutions, said that they are really excited to launch the Nokia 6708, their first touch-screen pen input device for the business audience. This launch is in line with their vision of enhancing workforce mobility, and it is an important addition to their expanding product.

He added that the Nokia 6708 is designed to meet the mounting demand for pen-based touch-screen smartphones with handwriting recognition capabilities. Its entertainment features such as music and video player, games with anti-shaking and multi-shot features, make it one of the most unique pen-based smartphones in its category.

The Nokia 6708 is equipped with more advanced features and applications to enhance work and play such as voice commands, GPRS, and conference call mode. As a fully integrated communication tool, this multipurpose phone also doubles as a universal infrared remote controller for a wide range of devices.

The phone is immediately available for around Rs 21,500.
