How to pair my ipod touch with motorola i335 having problems

when I turn the bluetooth on on both devices my motorola i335 finds my ipod touch. The i335 lets me know it is "linking with ipod touch" then asks for "BT Passkey. When I type "0000" the phone says "verifiying pin" then a screen pops up on my ipod saying "Enter PIN for 0000". I type in 0000 and the ipod says "Could not pair with 0000". Am I doing something wrong?HELP

PS. Both devices recognise each other.
