Three, 6630 and Internet Monthly
Hi all.
I'm looking for some info on using Three PAYG on my 6630 - specifically accessing mobile internet services. Currently i'm using Orange 3G and have been buying their '7 days access for £5' bundle for the past month. It allows me to use any mobile internet app and even connect my laptop using my 6630 as a bluetooth modem (don't think that's officially allowed so mum's the word!). However now that the novelty of unlimited mobile internet access is wearing off i think that £5 a week is more than i want to pay. So i'm thinking of buying a Three PAYG sim card - my 6630 is unlocked so no problems there - and using the £5 a month Internet Monthly. I've spent a while browsing the Three website and found just superficial info so hope someone on this group can supply a bit of detail... What can i access using Internet Monthly? Can i use Opera Mini as well as my 6630's built in browser? Can i use my 6630's built in email client? Can i use Profimail to access emails? Will apps like Google Maps and Agile Messenger work? If Google Maps (or any other apps) won't work with the Internet Monthly add-on then can i still use it but pay for access out of my sim credit at £1 a MB? Can i still access mobile internet if not in a 3G coverage area? Windows Live Messenger is currently being promoted as free until the end of 2007 - any idea what it will cost in 2008, will i just need an internet add-on to be able to use it? I'm assuming my 6630 is compatible with the official Three Messenger client - but will i be able to use (download) it if my 6630 is not branded by Three? A lot of questions - hope you can all supply some answers! Thanks. Martin. |

Also, if you port your number across to Three, they give you £10 free credit, 7 days after the number is transferred. >What can i access using Internet Monthly? > So far I'm I've just used the 50p per day option, to see how much I'm actually going to use it. I'm assuming you get charged 50p once per day and not every time you go online that day? I notice you get a warning every time you go online that it costs 50p per day or do I want to buy the internet add on. >Can i use Opera Mini as well as my 6630's built in browser? Yes you can. I just used the standard browser that came on my N73 (not sure what it is, I only go the phone yesterday and I'm still getting the hang of it :-) ) I found that I couldn't access some sites as they were blocked (presumably by Three?) a quick Google search suggested using Opera Mini, which I downloaded and installed and all is well, works fine and no blocked sites. -- Sean Black |
