Motorola E398 Modding Thread

It has been a year and a half i had aquired this wonderful phone and still i can use it like its brand new . Thanks to its innumerable bios flashing , editing facilities . Since its cheap and quite popular (i know some of techtalkz members having this) i though of sharing my modding experiences with everyone .

Before Modding : Just know that modding your phone with new Bios , Flex , Themes and skins will VOID ALL warranty . So if you have a e398 which is not 1 year old i suggest you wait until it is , otherwise if anything goes wrong you'll not get the benefit of free service .

Note: Before you can install any Monster Packs you'll have to convert the default flex of your phone from r372 to r373 . You'll find the necessary information in the provided links . This is applicable only if you've never flashed your phone before

Flashing Guides :
http://www.e398mod.com/content/category/3/7/25/
All the guides a noob needs to flash for the first time alongwith some advanced guides .
Don't forget to read the Survival and Revival guide

http://www.motomodders.net/Default.a...612&view=topic
The above link contains all the mods you can ever do with your phone . You'll have to register in their forum in order to view the links.

For less confusion i have uploaded the essential ones here :
http://rapidshare.de/files/26418923/tutorial.rar.html

Flashing Softwares (marked one are essentials) :

*Flash Backup 2.62
*P2kCommander
P2k Advanced Editor
*P2k Tools

Motorola Unlocker
*Motorola PST 6.9.2 (what I use)
*Motorola PST 6.7 Patch

There are more softwares essential for heavy mods . I'll post the links in due time.
Now for the raw materials .. the modded bioses and skins and apps!!!

ALL THE LATEST RELEASES CAN BE FOUND HERE(be sure to read the forums so as to know which ones are the really good ones) :
Bioses' or commonly Monster Packs

Java Applications (including Games)

Skins

MotoSkinner - Make your own skins!!!

Helper sites:
www.Howardforums.com/Motomodders.net
http://mirror.softcox.com
www.motomodders.net
www.e398mod.com
www.motofan.ru

Allthough I've warned you to read guides and stuff , don't get afraid . If done by the book NOTHING can go wrong and once you get used to the procedures you'll be flashing twice a day!!!
Happy Flashing

if you're wondering they are ill legal or not .. then no except pst 6.7 all other softwares are open source made by modders themselves . Its only that Motorola oficially doesn't support them .

This is the pack required, that changes R372 to R373, correctly.

Download the R372-E373 Upgrade Pack.7z file. Size : 12.6MB
