Exclamation ADSL PPPoE setup trouble in Knoppix 5.1.1 Linux

Namastey!
I wanted a LiveCD version of linux on which I could try my first introduction to Linux. I got Knoppix 5.1.1 and it detected all hardwares successfully excluding my USB modem SmartAX MT882 ADSL Router (Not Wireless), though they have provided some direct links in start menu to setup ADSL connections and so on, but what will it do when it doesn't even loading its module? I mean can someone guide me how to install it first and then initiate internet access using this OS? Please do write about connection set up through PPPoE too, I have some files in Modem's installation CD, "CDCEther.c", same file in two separate folders name "inc" and "src" but how to use it?

Do you have a ethernet port ? try to connect the router via the ethernet port and the drivers should be automatically detected. For the USB modem, read the manuals that came with the Driver CD to find out instructions. CDCEther.c is most probably for ethernet driver.

After driver is installed, i think pppoe or pppoeconf command should allow you to configure the router and enter the username/password required.

I have not any ethernet port, I am attaching that 5kb probably instruction file which was there in that CD, but I did try it all for nothing, I checked harware module list by "ls" command, in that USB port was detected, it means may be there must not be that ethernet port detection problem, inspite of this file which I am attaching there are two folders, "inc" and "src" both are with "CDCEther.c" file and a file named "makefile" (2 kb of size) is also there with this "patch read me file". Please have a look at it, I am attaching both. Can you tell me how to compile file in one directory? When I try that % make command it shows error that "bash no such job found."

File Type: txt USB-CDCEther-Patch-readme.txt (4.9 KB, 1 views)
File Type: rar makefile.rar (673 Bytes, 1 views)

That driver is for the ethernet connections. If your modem is detected try the pppoe or the pppoeconf command.
